Apple has officially unveiled the iPhone 17 lineup, introducing new designs, upgraded features, and fresh color options. The announcement came during the “Awe Dropping” event on September 8, 2025, setting the stage for one of the most anticipated smartphone launches of the year.
A New Era of iPhone Design
One of the biggest changes is the retirement of the iPhone Plus model, replaced by the iPhone 17 Air. Apple describes it as the thinnest iPhone ever, measuring just 5.6 millimeters and weighing 165 grams. Despite its slim build, the device features a 6.6-inch ProMotion display and a titanium-aluminum frame wrapped in the new Ceramic Shield 2 for better durability.
The Air is powered by the A19 Pro chip, paired with an Apple C1X modem and 12 GB of RAM. Apple claims it delivers all-day battery life, making it a sleek yet powerful addition to the lineup.
iPhone 17 and Its Improvements
The standard iPhone 17 now comes with a 6.3-inch ProMotion display, which includes always-on functionality, previously reserved for Pro models. Its camera system includes a 48-megapixel ultra-wide sensor and a 12-megapixel macro lens, alongside a redesigned square front-facing sensor that enhances selfie options.
Ceramic Shield 2 also debuts here, offering greater scratch resistance and improved durability. Apple continues to highlight “all-day battery life,” though specific numbers were not revealed.

Pro and Pro Max Powerhouses
The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max stand out with a redesigned camera bar that stretches across the device. The upgraded 48-megapixel telephoto lens now offers 1x, 2x, 4x, and 8x optical zoom, plus 8K video recording. Both models also introduce a custom-built Wi-Fi 7 chip for faster connectivity.
Apple promises brighter displays and up to 39 hours of video playback on these premium devices, making them some of the most capable iPhones to date.
