As the iconic horror film “Final Destination” commemorates its 25th anniversary, lead actor Devon Sawa offers a nostalgic reflection on the film’s enduring impact and hints at a possible return to the franchise that catapulted him to stardom.
Sawa, who portrayed the intuitive Alex Browning in the original 2000 release, expresses a profound connection to the film that has left an indelible mark on the horror genre. “It’s incredible to see how ‘Final Destination’ has stood the test of time,” Sawa muses.
Despite his character’s off-screen demise revealed in the sequel, Sawa remains open to reprising his role, acknowledging the genre’s penchant for resurrecting beloved characters. He fondly remembers his late co-star Tony Todd, the enigmatic “Candyman,” who passed away in November 2024, and whose presence was pivotal to the franchise’s eerie allure.
While Sawa is not featured in the upcoming installment, “Final Destination: Bloodlines,” slated for release on May 16, he lauds the film’s fresh perspective and thrilling narrative. “They’ve done a phenomenal job,” he notes, leaving fans hopeful for his potential cameo in future sequels.
As “Final Destination” continues to captivate audiences with its inventive storytelling and suspenseful sequences, Sawa’s reflections serve as a testament to the film’s lasting legacy and its significant contribution to the horror landscape.
