Jordan Davis’ FG Block Caps Off Eagles’ 33-26 Win Over Rams

PHILADELPHIA — Jordan Davis made history for the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, blocking a 44-yard field goal with three seconds left and returning it 61 yards for the game-winning touchdown. This thrilling finish gave the Eagles a stunning 33-26 comeback over the Los Angeles Rams at Lincoln Financial Field.

The victory was even more remarkable considering the Eagles trailed 26-7 early in the third quarter. Defensive tackle Jordan Davis, listed at 6-foot-6 and 336 pounds, sprinted at 18.59 miles per hour on the return — the fastest recorded by a player over 330 pounds since at least 2017, according to NextGen Stats. Fans and teammates swarmed him at the end zone in celebration of the historic play.

“It’s an emotional game,” said Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni. “The walk-off win and the team’s effort make this an incredible feeling for everyone involved.”

Key Plays and Defensive Impact

Davis’ performance wasn’t limited to the game-winning score. He also recorded five tackles, a sack, and a quarterback hit, contributing to the Eagles’ perfect 3-0 start for the season. Jalen Carter also blocked a field goal earlier in the fourth quarter, helping the Eagles capitalize on a shorthanded Rams offensive line. Injuries to the Rams’ Steve Avila and Kevin Dotson played a role, but Philadelphia’s preparation and execution on special teams proved decisive.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts praised the team’s focus, saying, “Stay in the moment, play each play as its own, and give it your all. That’s what led to this victory.” The Eagles’ comeback mirrors historic moments like DeSean Jackson’s 65-yard punt return against the Giants in 2010, proving Philadelphia thrives under pressure.

Rams Struggle and Injuries

The Rams fell to 2-1 as they struggled to adjust offensively. Running back Kyren Williams said the loss was humbling but motivating for the team. Kicker Joshua Karty made earlier field goals but was denied on the final attempt, while injuries forced the Rams to shuffle their offensive line, contributing to the Eagles’ success on special teams.

What’s Next

The Eagles will look to maintain momentum in Week 4 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, while the Rams aim to rebound in their next matchup.
